About Program
Nursing is a profession that serves to protect and improve the health of individuals, families and society, to regain and rehabilitate impaired health. Nurses provide this service through roles such as caregiving, management, education, research and consultancy. For this reason, in nursing education, the student is enabled to combine theoretical knowledge consisting of basic sciences and nursing sciences with practice, so that the graduate student can start his/her working life effectively and immediately.
The aim of the Undergraduate Nursing program is to train individuals who understand human values and behaviors, can identify the needs of healthy or sick individuals, and can provide health care services in line with these needs. Nursing education provided for this purpose is carried out on the basis of scientific problem solving, continuous research and learning, in line with international standards, national laws, regulations and requirements. In this context, a nurse is a person who sees the individual as a whole with its bio-psycho-social-spiritual dimensions and uses the nursing process, which is a scientific problem-solving system, in solving both existing and possible health problems.
Graduates of the Nursing Undergraduate Program are given the title of "Nurse".
Undergraduate education in Nursing covers a period of 4 years, and those who wish can take a one-year English preparatory class. The training program has been prepared in line with the European Union Criteria and the Bologna process and includes 4600 hours of theoretical, clinical and field practice training. In our department, education is provided in seven departments of nursing, and services are provided by an academic staff consisting of experienced faculty members in each department. In addition, in clinical and field applications, faculty members who have practical and educational experience in their field work in student education within the framework of the "guidance in clinical applications" model. A Master's degree program is carried out in our department, affiliated with the Institute of Health Sciences. Under the Department of Nursing, postgraduate courses are offered in seven basic nursing fields: Principles of Nursing, Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Gynecological Health and Diseases Nursing, Pediatric Health and Diseases Nursing, Mental Health and Diseases Nursing and Public Health Nursing. In the graduate education program, students are provided with field-specific theoretical knowledge and research and advanced application skills.
Goals
Works as a nurse in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative areas where she/he can realize the evidence-based nursing care process in line with the holistic approach, critical thinking and scientific problem solving approach to the health care needs of healthy / sick individuals, families and society, taking into account professional ethical principles and human values. As a professional member of the health team, fulfills professional roles and functions in team cooperation by using effective interpersonal communication skills. With the awareness of continuous learning and professional development, using at least one foreign language, follows the innovations in knowledge and technology and participates in scientific activities and research processes as leading nurses.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Havin field-specific basic knowledge and skills, using scientific problem solving method, acting in accordance with legal and ethical principes, structuring their practices according to the nursing process based on evidence, using innovations in informatics and technology for their invidual and professional development, showing responsibility for lifelong learning, effective communication. It trains nurses who use their skills, collaborate with the invidual-family-society and the healthcare team, use at least one foreign language to reach scientific knowledge in their field, and lead the provision and development of nursing services.
