About Program

Today's function of toxicology can be described by the definition of "Interactions between chemicals and biological system are science that does not harm the harmful results" or "Science that determines the limits of harmlessness of chemicals". However, considering the lower branches such as descriptive toxicology, clinical toxicology, environmental toxicology, industrial toxicology, forensic toxicology, analytical toxicology and ecotoxicology, toxicology should be defined separately for each branch function. The fact that each chemical can exhibit toxic effects on the basis of toxicity extends to a wide range of fields of medicine, cosmetics, pesticides, food additives, household cleaning materials and industrial chemicals. With the rapid development of the chemical industry in the 20th century, more than 70,000 chemical substances, mostly synthetic, are being used for various purposes. The importance of toxicology as a scientific discipline that determines the limits of harmfulness of pre- and post-production of chemicals has increased the necessity of using them in increasing quantities while continuing the modern life from the hazards created by the chemicals on the one hand. The sources, physical, chemical and biological properties of chemical substances, toxicity mechanisms at cellular, biochemical and molecular levels, toxic doses, determination of harmlessness limits, poisonings and treatments, isolation from environmental and biological environments, qualitative and quantitative analysis, safe use of chemicals risk analysis and standardizations for toxicology. Various research projects are carried out in our branches of molecular toxicology, immunotoxicology, metal toxicology, analytical toxicology, genetic toxicology, ecotoxicology, genetic polymorphism and our Department has the necessary laboratory conditions and equipments.

Goals

The Pharmaceutical Toxicology Thesis Master's Degree Program offered by the Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology aims to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of the effects of forensic toxicology, adverse drug interactions, acute toxicity and antidote treatments, advanced analytical methods used in toxicology, research methods, food toxicology, genetic polymorphism, genotoxicity, environmental toxicology, drug toxicology, cosmetic toxicology, metal toxicology, nanotoxicology, pesticides, drug metabolism.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Toxicology develops knowledge and expertise within the framework of its mechanisms and practices, with original thought and / or research, and can evaluate and use new information and technologies in a toxicology systematic and critical approach. Establish relationships between various disciplines and subfields, such as analytical, forensic, genetic, biophysical, biochemical and pharmacological, where toxicology is relevant
