About Program

Civil Defense and Firefighting Program aims to raise individuals with the competence and competence in the field of civil defense and firefighting that can meet the needs of our country's industrial organizations and fire brigades. This program is of great importance in the organization between the industry and educational institutions, the infrastructure required for sustainable education and training in civil defense and firefighting. The program is a Higher Education program that provides measures against fires, conducts fire extinguishing and rescuing life and property from fire, and trains technical personnel to conduct search, rescue and first aid interventions in incidents that occur as a result of natural disasters other than fire. Under these basic structures, the program is aimed to work in coordination with many different disciplines such as insurance, post-fire building repair and maintenance. In our country; Given the geographical, meteorological, socio-cultural and socio-economic factors, there is a need for technical staff to work within the scope of these activities.

Goals

The purpose of this program is to meet the need for specialist personnel trained in the field of Civil Defense and Firefighting within the scope of two-year associate degree education and in accordance with the main rules specified in of article 4 and article 5 in the sub-sections a and b  of the Higher Education Law No 2547. As a member of a fire brigade, it is able to take measures against fires, perform fire extinguishing and rescue life and property from fire, perform interventions, rescue and first aid interventions in the events that occur as a result of disasters other than fire, as well as the training required by the subject to the existing staff working within the unit where it operates to train technical staff who can give.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Hazard identification, risk analysis and to develop the ability to cope with life-threatening emergencies, to be able to follow new structures produced according to the developing technology, to determine the measures to be taken for fire safety inside and outside the building and to make the necessary organizations, to be able to apply intervention to fire types, first aid and search-rescue methods, to be able to use and maintain the necessary  intervention tools and device and to intervene with the extinguisher suitable for the type of fire.
