The geophysical department was established in 1989. The department has undergraduate and graduate educations. The total education time is 10 semesters including one year mandatory English school. The total credit is 166. A 30 day trainee course in a company is mandatory. The department also has graduate and PhD programs.

An undergraduate should have data processing and computational knowledge that permit following the recent developments in science and technology, performing multidisciplinary applications, ability of direct entering business life without additional training.

Sufficient knowledge of numerical analysis and programming, and integration them by professional knowledge. Efficiency in the details of geophysical data processing. Knowledge about the applications that are demanded by industry. Ability of direct entering business life without additional training or self set up a business.
