About Program
The major courses in Arabic Language and Literature program are Arabic Grammar, History of Arabic Literature, Cultural History, translation from Arabic into Turkish and from Turkish into Arabic. In program, poetry and prose examples belonging to various periods of Arabic Literature are discussed. In addition to classical texts, modern Arabic texte in various topics are translated and students are taught Arabic terms and phrases. Furthermore Hebrew, Middle East Political History and Literary Criticism courses are also included.
Goals
The aim of program is to teach Arabic language along with examining Arabic literature and culture; to improve students’ knowledge about Arab World’s history, culture and literary; make students aware of developments in Arab world literary, political, social and economic by following written and visual sources; educate students who have ability to express themselves in oral and written ways.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Identify contemporary religious, political and intellectual trends. Understand contemporary developments in Arab world. Evaluate and debate historical, scientific, political, cultural, sociologic and economic issues related with Arabic literature. Discuss emergence and development of literary critisism in Arab literature.
