Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Social Studies Teaching undergraduate program was opened within the framework of the restructuring of the faculties of education in 1997-1998 academic year. Social Studies Teaching Undergraduate Program is a program that train Social Studies Teachers and supports information production as a result of theoretical and practical research. The program includes theoretical and practical courses that develop the necessary knowledge and skills for Social Studies Teacher Candidates. As of 2012, the program started to provide graduate education. Until 2021, he won 4 science experts for the field of Social Studies Education. It is aimed to train scientists in the field of Social Studies Education, to realize qualified scientific studies, to share scientific studies and to provide solutions to the problems related to education. In order to develop social studies educators of our country, social studies are always needed for social studies, which can monitor new developments in the field of social studies, use new learning and teaching approaches effectively and improve their knowledge and transfer their knowledge to their professional field. This doctoral program will be able to specialize not only for the prospective teachers who graduated from the Social Studies program, but also from other disciplines, the component of social studies education. It is clear that there is continuous development and change in both educational sciences and social studies. The PhD Program is one of the basic units that will serve locomotive in developing and maintaining contemporary education approaches. The doctoral program will also contribute to the follow -up of the developments in other disciplines that make up social information. In the context of increasing the power of the field of social studies education in our country, the PhD program will make significant contributions and serve as a catalyst in providing radical and permanent progress.

With the doctoral program of Social Studies Education, it is aimed to train faculty members to newly opened and developing universities in order to eliminate the deficiencies encountered in teacher education in our country and to contribute to national and international scientific studies.

Social Studies Education PhD Program Competencies; He has adopted ethical principles at the global and local level, gained information, skills, values and attitudes specific to the field, and he has been able to determine the problems for all dimensions of social studies education in individual and groups, and seek solutions to these problems at national and international levels, and share these solutions with the interested parties identifies people.
