The foundations of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, where our program is located, were laid in 1983 as the Department of Physical Education and Sports affiliated with the Rectorate of Ankara University. In 1993, the School of Physical Education and Sports was opened at Ankara University Tandoğan Campus and education started with 30 students. In 2013, by the decision of the Council of Ministers, the School of Physical Education and Sports was closed and the Faculty of Sports Sciences was established. Since 2012, the Coaching Education program has been continuing its education in the Gölbaşı 50th Year Campus, Faculty of Sports Sciences building. The Department of Coaching Education trains sports educators who are in great need in the field of sports in our country. Graduates of the department work as coaches and assistant coaches in amateur and professional sports clubs, in the central and provincial organizations of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports, and in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. They can also take part in teaching and organizing sports activities such as private gyms and the tourism sector. This program includes theoretical courses and practices related to the departments of movement and training sciences, sports health sciences and psycho-social fields in sports. Additionally, with the training provided in the Department; Practices in line with the development of sports techniques and tactics to increase their performance by selecting and guiding athletes who are qualified, investigative, productive, knowing the problems of sports and athletes at all levels, seeking solutions to work in amateur and professional sports clubs and national teams in all branches of sports and human movements. Experts are trained who do sports and ensure the use of scientific theoretical foundations of sports in their application areas.

What our country needs in the field of sports is to train sports educators. Our aim is to train experts who know how to select talents for the field of sports, who can make training programs according to age groups, and who can make applications to improve sports techniques and tactics. Additionally, with the training provided in the Department; Practices in line with the development of sports techniques and tactics to increase their performance by selecting and guiding athletes who are qualified, investigative, productive, knowing the problems of sports and athletes at all levels, seeking solutions to work in amateur and professional sports clubs and national teams in all branches of sports and human movements. It is aimed to train experts who do sports and use the scientific theoretical foundations of sports in their application areas.
