About Program

Department of Public Economics has one of the most comprehensive programs in the faculty. In the Department we have the Divisions of Fiscal Economics, Fiscal Law, Fiscal Planning and Theory of Public Finance. The students, next to the theoretical and practical courses on public economics, economics and management, take courses on law and political sciences. Some of the basic courses taken on these fields include Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Public Finance, Theory of Public Finance, Budget and the Financing Public Expenditures, Local Government Finance, Tax Law, Fiscal Policy, Econometrics, Management, International Economics Theory and Policy.


Goals

The goal of the Public Economics program is to provide the students with the academic, institutional and practical knowledge on the institutional structure and the functioning of the economy and to develop skills necessary to be employed and make career both in the public and private sectors.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Graduates analyze the basic concepts in economics, history of political thought, social science theories and have theoretical background knowledge; gain basic fiscal management knowledge on public intervention, central and local governments, fiscal decentralization; and explain the reflections of fiscal policies on national and international economies, the role of fiscal policy in development policies and the impact of financial policies on public finance.
