Economics Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University is one of the oldest institutions teaching economics in Turkey. Since the last quarter of the nineteenth century, our department has educated many economists. In the economics department, we teach and research into econometrics, statistics, and mathematical economics as well as heterodox braches of economic sciences such as game theory, behavioural economics, political economy, and history and philosophy of economics.

Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics, aims to equip students with the information economics and related disciplines in order to make them emphasize protecting public benefits and individual freedom; use necessary quantitative and qualitative methods on economic analyses; have creative and analytical thinking skills; and ensure importance of economics to understand social and political developments in Turkey and all over the world. In this context, the Department helps students to gain the qualifications required during their future occupational choices in private, public or non-governmental organizations.
