Goals To gain the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to diagnose and treat the most common dermatological problems in our country in primary care.
Course Content Structure of the skin and primary and secondary elementary lesions; Fungal diseases of the skin; Erythematous squamous diseases (psoriasis, lichen planus, pityriasis rosea); Bacterial diseases of the skin; Eczema; Reactive dermatoses; Behcet's disease; Viral diseases of the skin; Sexually transmitted infections; Parasitic diseases of the skin; Autoimmune bullous dermatoses; Acne vulgaris and acne rosacea; Urticaria; Skin tumors; Alopecia, hyperhidrosis, vitiligo
Learning Outcomes 1) Takes a detailed and reliable dermatological history using effective communication skills.
2) Examines the skin, skin appendages and mucous membranes, defines the subjective and objective findings, and makes the differential diagnosis in line with these findings.
3) Recognizes and treats the most common dermatological problems encountered by primary care physicians in our country.
4) Applies the clinical knowledge and laboratory skills in making a diagnosis.
5) Explains the diagnosis and treatment approaches of common skin diseases with high morbidity and mortality.
6) Explains the referral indications in dermatological diseases.
7) Informs the patients and healthcare personnel about contamination and prevention methods in infectious skin diseases.
8) Recognizes the dermatological diseases that require urgent intervention (such as urticaria, angioedema, erythrodermia, toxic epidermal necrolysis), performs emergency treatments at the primary care level and refers appropriately.
9) Explains the psychological, social and cultural effects of chronic skin diseases on patients and families.
10) Realizes the importance of changing the wrong and negative prejudices and attitudes towards skin diseases in society.
