Goals In accordance with the knowledge, skills and attitudes obtained in the preclinical and clinical periods, to contribute to the acquisition of competencies necessary to provide a qualified primary health care service.
Course Content Pregnancy and postpartum follow-up in the primary care; Routine and specific period vaccinations and diseases that can be protected by vaccination; Infant and child follow-up in primary care; Identification of patient with psychiatric problem in primary care and approach to the patient with depression; Common childhood diseases in primary care; Approach to the patient with fever; Approach to the patient with diarrhea: Viral and bacterial differentiation, treatment and prevention; Approach to the patient with complaints of weakness; Approach to the patient with complaints of loss of appetite; The development of health and the maintenance of wellbeing in different phases of life; Approach to hypertensive patients; Prevention of chronic diseases; Approach to the patient with abdominal pain; Approach to lymphadenopathy; Cough: approach to the patient and differentiation of acute-chronic cough; Healthy eating and changing lifestyle (on an individual basis); Healthy sexual life (individual private counseling); The concept of gender; Basic skill practices
Learning Outcomes 1) Understands the basic characteristics of primary health care, the scope and duties of Family Health Centers.
2) .Learns national policies and legislation related to primary health care.
3) Cares about the preventive health service at individual, family and community level, and carries out primary health care services for the protection and improvement of health.
4) Cares the community benefits at primary health care.
5) Takes anamnesis using effective communication skills from the patient who applied to the primary health care facility, and performs a full physical examination.
6) Makes preliminary diagnosis / diagnosis by evaluating the history and physical examination findings.
7) Selects the tests in the appropriate order for diagnosis and interpret their results.
8) Makes treatment and follow-up of common diseases in children and adults at primary care level, applies preventive measures, counseling, and refers properly when necessary.
9) Performs the required interventional procedures at primary level (vaccination, injection, etc.).
10) In the primary level, carries out the follow-up of baby and child, pregnant and puerperants monitoring, periodical health examinations, immunization and family planning services, and advices on these issues.
11) Keeps the medical records of primary level in writing and electronically as appropriate, and makes necessary reporting and notifications.
12) Communicates effectively with patients, relatives, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
13) Respects to personal rights and decisions.
14) Makes effective team work with colleagues and other health personnel.
15) Manages the primary health care facility and leads the health care team.
16) Evaluates his/her individual and professional competencies, and improves his/her professional performance through continuous learning.
17) Reads, critically evaluates, and presents the primary care oriented literature.
18) Carries out primary health care services considering ethical rules and evidence-based approaches.
