Goals Enabling the students to understand the orthography, phonetics, morphology and vocabulary of the Old Anatolian Turkish through philological methods, determining the relationship with the Turkish, and developing talents for reading, giving a meaning and analysing the philological characteristics of the texts belonging to the period of Old Anatolian Turkish.
Course Content Regarding the literary texts of 12th and 15th century Old Anatolian Turkish grammar studies are being carried out simultaneously or at different times in respect of characteristics of spelling, phonetics and morphology. Information is also provided about the publication of the reference texts of the Old Anatolian Turkish.
Learning Outcomes 1) .The basic principles and concepts of historical Turkish grammar are learned.
2) The linguistic features of historical periods of Turkish and literary works written in this period. are learned.
3) .In historical process, the stages of formation of Old Anatolian Turkish.are learned.
4) .Comparing Old Turkish and Modern Turkish, historical processes of Turkish are learned.
5) Features of basic grammar of Old Anatolian Turkish are comprehended.
6) Codexes written with Old Anatolian Turkish are read, they are transfered to modern Turkish.
7) The diachronic grammar analysises on Old Anatolian Turkish texts are done.
8) The historical development of Turkish and diachronic changes in Turkish are learned.
9) By comparing the old Turkish and modern Turkish, historical processes of Turkish are learned.
10) Knowledge of reading historical texts and analysis are gained and text information for these texts to transfer to Turkish is gained.
