Goals The aim of this course is to introduce functional groups such as alcohols, ethers, epoxides, aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, active methylene compounds and amines, and to give information about their physical and chemical properties, synthesis and other reactions.
Course Content "Alcohols and ethers: their structure, physical properties, nomenclature and reactions, epoxides, crown ethers and phase transfer catalysts, carbonyl compounds, nomenclature and physical and chemical properties, aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, identification methods and spectroscopic properties. Amines, aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic amines, general and IUPAC nomenclature, physical and chemical properties, synthesis and synthesis methods, other reactions, biological importance of amines and reactions, diazotization and coupling reactions, azo-dyeing agents and properties, sulfo drugs, importance and synthesis. "

2) LO2. Classifies the organic compounds according to their basic functional group.
3) LO3. Names organic compounds according to internationally accepted rules
4) "LO4. Recognises the isomeric species in organic chemistry. "
5) LO5. Knows the physical and chemical properties of organic compounds.
6) LO6. Explains the properties that an organic compound must have in order to be aromatics.
7) LO7. Understands the synthesis of organic compounds.
8) LO8. Knows the reactions of organic compounds containing functional groups.
9) LO9. Understands the importance of organic compounds in daily life.
