Goals In this course, it is aimed that the students get to know the basic concepts of special education, special education services, diagnosis of common disability groups, their characteristics, education and adaptations that should be made for these individuals.
Course Content In the content of this course, it is included basic concepts of special education, principles of special education, historical development of special education, legal regulations regarding special education and individuals with special needs, diagnosis and evaluation process in special education, individualization of education, inclusion and support special education services, individuals in common disability groups educational approaches and teaching strategies for these groups.
Learning Outcomes 1) Explain the basic concepts of special education.
2) Summarizes the historical development of special education.
3) Explains assessment, individualization, inclusion/integration and support services in special education.
4) Defines and classifies the types of disability common in special education.
5) Identify the factors that cause common types of disability.
6) Explain the main characteristics of common disability types.
7) Defines appropriate educational approaches for common disability types.
