Goals A detailed examination of occupational ethics, principles and values in social work and the discussion of ethical dilemmas and solution strategies that can be encountered in professional practice.
Course Content Definitions of the concept of ethics, morality, professional ethics. Historical development of social work ethics, social work code of ethics and its transformation in the world and and in Turkey, different approaches in Ethics and their place in social work practice (Kantian ethics, utilitarian ethics, feminist ethics, radical ethics, critical ethics, etc), ethical dilemmas, ethical violations and ethical problems, ethics in academic and research work.
Learning Outcomes 1) 1) Acquire the philosophical and sociological bases of professional ethics principles.
2) 2) Analyze internationally accepted ethical principles, possible ethical dilemmas and solution strategies.
3) 3) Gain the ability to conduct professional practice in the light of ethical principles.
4) 4) Through the internalization of professional ethics principles, they think, make decisions and act in the light of ethical principles during professional practice.
