Goals The objectives of this course is provide some experience to the lab works, to learn usage of Microscope and microscopy techniques, and also provide the fundemental methods to the MSc and PhD students of Plant protection Department, Phytopathology section.
Course Content Surveys and survey types of plant diseases, Microscope and microscope types, Spore measurement of spores, determination of inoculum density by toma, sterilization and sterilization techniques, different media compositions, isolation and isolation methods, inoculation and inoculation types, microtom and thin sectioning, centifugation and various centrifugation techniques, electrophoresisand electrophoresis types, chromatography and applications, gas chromatography and HPLC, spectrophotometer and types and applications
Learning Outcomes 1) The student completing this course successfully learns various microscopic techniques and can make spore measurements
2) Learns inoculation and inoculation techniques, can adjust inoculum concentration
3) Learn sisolation and isolation methods. Prepare selective and non-selective culture media. Gains the ability to make isolation of the fungal and bacterial pathogens from the diseased plant samples
4) Can make cross sections from thebdiseased and healthy plants
5) Can perform disease surveys
6) Learns work principles of spectrophotometer and can run its.
7) Can explain the use and work principles of centrifuge
8) Learns the electrophoresis technique and can make various electrophoresisi applications
9) Can apply basics of chromatography and chromatographic techniques
