Goals The aim is to teach main subjects of soil science, soil physics, chemistry and biology, soil fertility and soil classifications
Course Content What are the main subjects of soil science? Soil formation, factors that effecting soil properties, soil profiles, horizons, soil physical chemical and biological properties, nutrients, taxonomy, soil erosion, soil management and sustainability, soil texture and structure, soil nutrition elements, soil clays, soil colloids cation exchange capacity, base saturation, soil water retention and soil- environment relationships.
Learning Outcomes 1) Recall and define the basic terms used for the description, study, and management of soils.
2) Describe the soil forming factors and the effect of each factor on soil development.
3) Identify and describe soil physical properties such as texture, structure, and color.
4) Explain how soil physical, chemical, and biological properties and processes affect Agricultural and non-agricultural land use and management.
5) Summarize the ecological functions of soil and explain the role of soil management in maintaining and improving environmental quality.
6) Use methods for analysing and describing soil properties and processes
7) Interpret and evaluate the soil profile data.
