Goals The aim of the course is to train students who have basic knowledge about science and scientific explanations and approaches, who are able to construct, conduct and report a scientific study, who have gained the basic rationale of research methods, who have critical thinking ability and have knowledge about scientific ethics.
Course Content Identification of research process: problem identification, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, basic research methods (descriptive, etc.) and techniques (quantitative and qualitative), research design: writing research proposals, hypothesis development, realization of research questions, design of questionnaire and interview forms and data collection, development of written communication skills: necessary rules of writing in compliance with academic writing formats in social and natural sciences such as writing academic paper and thesis, literature review, proceeding abstract, research proposal, examination of selected articles and theses and evaluation of students’ presentations included.
Learning Outcomes 1) (Conducts a research in accordance with the scientific research process.)
2) Defines research problem and hypothesis and creates model.
3) Examines literature related to research topic.
4) Interprets research findings and reporting them in scientific and academic language.
5) Makes original studies by having comprehensive knowledge of scientific ethics and plagiarism.
