Goals This course is intended to provide graduate students with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct independent research and contribute to their ability to become researchers with scientific attitudes and behaviors.
Course Content In this course, science, philosophy of science, research approaches and quantitative research are examined in detail.
Learning Outcomes 1) Defines the basic concepts of research, such as knowledge, science, philosophy of science, stages of scientific method.
2) Explains positivist and post-positivist paradigms.
3) Defines a research problem to conduct research on a subject.
4) Reaches the scientific resources to search literature for a research problem.
5) Defines the general objectives and sub-objectives.
6) Explains the importance of a research problem.
7) Defines the assumptions necessary for a research.
8) Describes appropriate limitations to a research problem.
9) Makes a distinction between functional and conceptual definitions.
10) Defines the research model.
11) Compares different research models.
12) Explains sampling methods.
13) Compares different sampling methods.
14) Knows appropriate data collection techniques for research purposes.
15) Chooses data analysis techniques appropriate to the type and level of data collected.
16) Establishes the connection of research findings to objectives.
17) Establishes links between research findings and implications for practitioners and future research.
18) Reports the research process in accordance with scientific writing and reporting principles.
19) Follows ethical rules in the planning,process and reporting of the research.
