Goals The aim of this course is to enable the students to learn the basics of disaster psychology in general terms and understand the disaster and emergency psychology.
Course Content Introduction to disaster and emergency psychology; disaster and trauma; the nature of traumatic life events; psychosocial context; post-disaster psychosocial intervention program; characteristics and types of disasters and traumatic life events; stages affecting society of disaster and traumatic life events; reactions of individuals against disasters; reactions of individuals against disasters and approaches of emergency workers against that reactions; post-traumatic stress disorder, unusual reactions observed immediately after the traumatic event; the relationship between earthquake and posttraumatic stress disorder; recommendations for attendant and voluntary in disaster areas; characteristics that should be the person to help the victims; psychological first aid; recommendations to volunteers and non-experts for psychological first aid; loss and grief; posttraumatic growth; the ripple effect of trauma.
Learning Outcomes 1) Develops the ability to print with emergency situations that threaten life.
2) Can organize, promote, and administer search and rescue missions.
3) Have physical and spiritual durability.
