Goals The aim of this course is to enable students to be informed on social work activities that need to be done before, during and after the emergency and disaster.
Course Content The organization of the social service units in the disaster areas; the planning of social services in the disaster areas; implementation of social services for victims; determining the impact of disasters on communities; services for women in disasters; services for children and young people in disasters; services for the disabled and poor people in disasters; services for the elderly people and immigrants in the disaster; the distress experienced during natural disasters; psychological, emotional and economic distress in human during disasters; the distress experienced during accident; the distress experienced during war; effective social service intervention during disasters; social service planning in the post-disaster period.
Learning Outcomes 1) Learning how to make contact to people about panic during and after a disaster
2) Having knowledge about how to serve during and after a natural disaster
3) Gaining awareness of disaster preparedness
