Goals The aim of the course is to enable the student to recognize the folkloric material in cinema and literary texts, which are one of the most important sources of visual culture, and to understand and discuss how / in which ways this material assumes its founding function.
Course Content Sedat Veyis Örnek, one of the founders of our department, says in his book, Turkish Folklore, which is still one of the most prominent books in the field, "novels, stories, theater, poems, travels, essays, memoirs etc. that fall within the scope of Turkish literature. There is a rich material for folklore in their genres ”and, as Örnek said," Anatolian realities, authentic aspects of folk life "are seen in Turkish cinema. The "written language", which is the language of literature, and the "cinematographic language", which is the language of cinema, coincide with both the cultural material of folklore and the academic point of view, and the aim of the course is to teach students to see folkloric material in literature and cinema and to make folkloric analysis through literature and cinema.
