Goals To give information about the place of Medieval and Renaissance eras in music history; general characteristics of Ancient Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance music through composers and works; relationship between music and other forms of arts in the eras above.
Course Content Historical processes Medieval and Renaissance in music.The influence of philosophy, social events and other forms of art on Medieval and Renaissance music. Major composers through their biographies, style properties and selected works.
Learning Outcomes 1) They learn about Ancient Greek, Roman, Medieval, Renaissnace eras in artistic, historical, social and cultural context
2) They learn about the general style properties of Medieval, Renaissnace eras.
3) They learn about the major composers of Medieval, Renaissnace eras.
4) They become able to recognize Medieval, Renaissnace works and instruments.
5) They learn about the relationship between music and other forms of arts.
