Goals To gain critical perspective about the concept of history; evaluate some concepts such as information, communication, oral and written culture, mass media in the historical and social context.
Course Content What is history? Distinction between oral and written culture; first communication systems; enlightenment and the industrial revolution; development, adaptation and transformation of communication technologies such as railroads, telegraph systems, newspapers, radio, tv; the origins of modern journalism.
Learning Outcomes 1) The definition of the concept of history and historiography
2) Defines positivist historiography and the criticisms against him.
3) Distinguish the width of the concept of communication.
