Goals The aim fo the course is to explain the general characteristics and development process of Turkish handicrafts, having the students gain the ability to understand the stylistic features and distinguish the mutual and different parts with environmental cultures.
Course Content Study of artefacts made with materials such as ceramic, metal, stone, leather, glass in Turkish art, technique, composition and stylistic features of marbling, illumination, bookbinding arts.
Learning Outcomes 1) Learning the the concept and content of Turkish handicraft.
2) Learning the history and distribution of the related subject; following the chronological developments.
3) Apprehension of relations between Turkish handicrafts and other cultures.
4) Identification of the materials and techniques in Turkish handicrafts; learning the style critique.
5) Gaining knowledge about samples of handicrafts such as ceramic, leather-bookbinding, illumination, marbling, glasswork, stonework, metalwork.
