Goals The aim of the course is conveying the general characteristics and development process of Turkish handicrafts to the student, and have them gain the comprehension of the stylistic features, and the ability of distinguishing similar and differential parts with surrounding cultures.
Course Content This course will focus on the historical development of the woodwork, carpet, and textile materials in Turkish art by handling their technique, composition, and style features.
Learning Outcomes 1) The student will know the material and techniques in Turkish handicrafts.
2) Particularly will gain ideas on handicraft samples such as woodwork, carpet, and costumes.
3) The student will gain knowledge on the history and distributions related to the subject; will follow the chrocological developments, will learn the relations with other cultures; will know the materials and techniques; will learn style criticism.
