Goals This course aims to teach the basic concepts and analytical tools of the economics discipline.
Course Content This course consists of both microeconomics (first semester) and macroeconomics (second semester) subjects.Microeconomics topics include the basics of supply and demand, determination of prices and quantities under alternative market settings, and consequences of government intervention. Certain topics of law and economics are also discussed at certain detail. The macroeconomics part is reserved for national income accounts, determination of macroeconomics balance, unemployment, inflation, monetary policy, and fiscal policy.
Learning Outcomes 1) Students learn fundamentals of price and quantity formation under alternative market settings.
2) They interpret the possible consequences of public interventions to markets.
3) They understand the fundamental differences between micro-level and macro-level analyses.
4) They learn the basic macroeconomic concepts and interpret the relations between macroeconomic variables.
5) They learn the basics of law and economics discipline.
