Goals It is aimed to comprehend how the historiography of material culture can be shaped through the relations established by the discipline of art history with other humanitarian fields.
Course Content Art history, as a field examining the history of material culture, is an "interdisciplinary" field of interest that produces knowledge in close relations with other disciplines, and it is essentially a sub-branch of the science of history. By putting the history of art at the center, this course opens the dimensions of the scientific relations it has formed with the discipline of Art History with fields such as epigraphy, numismatics, history, archeology, sociology, philosophy, ethnology and paleography to an academic discussion.
Learning Outcomes 1) Learns the working methods of the art history discipline.
2) Comprehends the critical approach in the analysis of the work.
3) Comprehends the dimensions that the methodological approaches of other fields that can be evaluated within the scope of history add to the methods of art history.
4) Learns to evaluate the political, economic, cultural, geographical and other environmental factors of material cultural historiography holistically.
