Goals The purpose of this course is to make the students gain knowledge and skills about the principals of applied behavior analysis, its concepts, and behavior change strategies. The aim is to have students describe, assess behaviors, increase desired behaviors and decrease undesired behaviors. The student can explain the concepts of applied behavior analysis, and use the techniques of applied behavior analysis at the end of the course.
Course Content Behavioral explanations of the behaviors and their reasons, basic principles of behavior management, behavioral assessment (direct behavior observation methods), increasing desired behaviors, reinforcement, cues / prompts, shaping and chaining, decreasing undesired (problem) behaviors (using differential reinforcement procedures, extinction, response cost, time-out, punishment by stimulus presentation), ethical considerations in applied behavior analysis.
