Goals This course aims to provide pre-service teachers with knowledge and experience about applied behavior analysis based on the behaviorist approach and advanced behavior modification techniques used within the scope of applied behavior analysis. The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge and skills on advanced applied behavior analysis techniques (functional analysis and management of problem behaviors based on functional analysis, positive behavioral support). At the end of this course, the student can prepare and implement interventions to deal with problem behaviors using advanced applied behavior analysis techniques.
Course Content Advanced techniques in ABA, functional analysis, determining the functions of behaviors and forming hypotheses, planning an intervention based on function (functional extinction, reinforcement, punishment for problem behaviors), Positive behavior support (PBS), school-wide PBS, ABA and verbal behavior, antecedents based practices, self-management, single-subject research methods.
Learning Outcomes 1) Defines and applies functional analysis.
2) Identifies the functions of behaviors and can form hypotheses.
3) Makes function-based intervention planning.
4) Positive behavior support (ODD) explains, plans and implements.
5) Applies self-management strategies.
6) Prepares, implements and evaluates an advanced problem behavior treatment program.
