Goals The aim of this course is to provide special education teacher candidates with basic knowledge and skills about teaching science to individuals with special education needs.
Course Content Basic concepts in life studies and social studies; examining general and special education programs in life studies and social studies; unit and subject analysis; determining the necessary concepts for gaining the subjects and developing criteria-dependent measurement tools based on these concepts; life studies and social studies teaching approaches and teaching, preparing lesson plans according to students' levels; exemplary teaching practices; Adapting life studies and social studies teaching to students with special educational needs
Learning Outcomes 1) Teaches life science or social studies by individualizing the teaching according to the student.
2) Explains the basic concepts in the field of life science and social studies.
3) Evaluates the life science and social studies. curriculum in general education and special education.
4) Analyzes the curricula and analyzes the unit and subject.
5) Prepares rough and detailed assessment tool to evaluate student performance.
6) Explains the teaching approaches and methods used in life science and social studies teaching.
7) Uses life science and social studies teaching methods and techniques effectively.
8) Plans a life science or social studies lesson in accordance with the developmental characteristics and needs of the students.
9) Uses concept teaching techniques effectively.
