Goals The aim of this course is to provide information on the developmental characteristics seen in children from the prenatal period to the middle childhood period. In addition, this course aims to provide information on developmental theories and environmental and genetic factors affecting child development.
Course Content Theory and research in child development, genetic and environmental factors affecting development, prenatal development, newborn development , development in infancy and toddlerhood, development in early childhood, development in middle childhood
Learning Outcomes 1) Gains knowledge about the findings of scientific studies in the field of child development, child development theories and basic concepts on this subject.
2) Gains knowledge about social, emotional, cognitive, motor and language development in infancy, early childhood and middle childhood.
3) Distinguish between typical and atypical developmental features.
4) Knows the basic factors affecting child development.
5) Understands the importance of using developmentally appropriate practices and assessment tools.
6) Gains critical thinking skills on current theories and scientific studies in the field of child development.
