Goals This course is aimed to introduce the Pre-Islamic Turkish art history and to give basic information about the cultural transformations between the Middle Asia and Anatolia together with emphasizing the origin problems on the specific fields of Turkish art.
Course Content Beginning from the Proto-Turk culture the arts of Huns, Gokturks and Uyghurs are taught and together with the Avars, the Scythian Art problem is examined. In this context the relations among the Turkish culture and mythology with the petroglyphs and the archaeological founds from the kurgan excavations and also the balbals will be studied.
Learning Outcomes 1) Recognizes the Proto-Turk culture and the archaeological objects.
2) Has information about the "animal style".
3) Knows the nomadic culture and the concept of the tent art.
4) Has information about the Pre-Islamic origins of the Anatolian Turkish Art.
