Goals * Understanding the relationship between architecture, space and patronage of the Islamic Architecture * Perceive the effect of architecture how reflects social context * Understanding the effect of social, economic, political, climatic and technological conditions on typological change in architecture. * Gaining a general perspective on history and acquiring the knowlege of the terminology of the relevant Islamic architecture.
Course Content This course is based on the 10th and 16th centuries of Islamic Architecture. Especially the representatinal power and the influence areas of Islamic arts in the Mediterranean World and its surroundings are examined. Students are expected to participate to the discussion to be held in the classroom and follow the weekly readings and do the homeworks.
