Goals The course aims to think about movie genres, to differentiate and analyze basic movie genres in popular cinema, to show what kind of fears and/or desires that films address, and to think about and discuss new genres.
Course Content In this course we will study on film genres: Horror, musical, western, melodrama, etc.
Learning Outcomes 1) The student defines the concept of genre in cinema.
2) The student grasps the formation of genres.
3) The students gathers general information about genres in popular cinema.
4) The student analyzes and evaluates the genre of Western.
5) The student analyzes what the genre of horror brings forth and evaluates this genre.
6) The student analyzes musicals.
7) The students compares the fact of genre within popular cinema and art cinema.
8) The student examines intertwined genres.
9) The student uses this information in the future while designing, planning and making movies.
