Goals The aim of the course is to teach the miniature art as an important field of Turkish and Islamic arts, evaluating it with various art schools in accordance with historical development, thus having the student gain the point of view for Turkish and Islamic depictive arts.
Course Content Starting with the emergence of miniature art, it's development in different Turkish and Islamic states, evaluating the regional differences will be handled.
Learning Outcomes 1) Apprehesion of 11-13th centuries manuscripts with miniatures and miniatures in accordance with their subjects.
2) Identifying the Mongolian and Ilkhanid miniatures.
3) Identifying the styles of Turkoman Principalities, Timurid Period and Safavid Period miniatures.
4) Ability to follow the stylistic development, subjects and manuscripts of Ottoman miniatures from it's emergence to the 18th century.
