Goals Human Rights and Democracy Education Goal: The goal of this course is to examine the historical development of democracy and human rights across the world and Turkey, and to introduce the Democracy and Human Rights associations, of which Turkey is a member, and explain their works, the places and cohesiveness of international agreements in domestic law, finally to evaluate the principles, -characteristics and types of Modern Democracy.
Course Content Definition and history of human right and democracy, the concept of democracy, liberty and equality, different democracy approaches, democratic culture, democracy in school and family, democratic civic, benefits and liberties, children and women right, national and international arrangements related to human right (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, European Convention of Human Right, Convention of Children Rights, etc) , basic problems encountered in human rights, human rights and democracy.
Learning Outcomes 1) Students will comprehend the relationship between human rights and democray.
2) Students will evaluate basic rights and freedom as being fundamental in democratic administrations.
3) Students will comprehend the feattures of modern democracy
4) Students will explain the development of human rights and democracy.
