About Program
Tourism and Travel Services Program began training during the 2004-2005 academic year. Within the scope of the program, students are equipped with contemporary knowledge on travel and transportation services within the framework of the goal of meeting the need for modern and educated personnel needed in the travel industry.
The education and training period of the program is four semesters and the language of education is Turkish. Students who wish to have the right to study in the English preparatory class for one year. 45 working days of internship is required at the end of the first year of the program. Internship training is carried out in travel agencies, hotels and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Graduates who successfully complete the program by fulfilling all their requirements are entitled to receive the “Associate Degree in Tourism and Travel Services”. Along with graduation, students can work to intermediate and managerial staff in travel agencies, hotels and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and its affiliated units.
Goals
The program aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and equipment in the fields of basic business and tourism, as well as the structure and functioning of the travel sector that constitutes the tourism distribution system, travel agencies and tour operators, tour planning and management, transportation in tourism and professional ticketing.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Graduates define their responsibilities for being middle level manager, executive assistant in tourism and travelling service sector as intermediate qualified staff. Graduates have information about tourism sector and tourism market, travel agency and tour operator. Graduates have information about history, geography and touristic place of Turkey. Graduates have information about basic concept of economy, in parallel with that importance of tourism’s expenses and income in terms of Turkey’s economy. Graduates have information about congress, fair and meeting organizations.
