About Program
Department of Agricultural Economics is situated in the Department of the Faculty of Agriculture since 1933 which agricultural higher education has started in Turkey. Department of Agricultural Economics members contribute to the science and applications constantly over 70 years. The biggest contribute of Department of Agricultural Economics members is in the establishment phase of faculty of Agriculture in Çukurova University, Uludağ University and 19 Mayıs University. Members of Department of Agricultural Economics work in collabration with both public and private organizations as well as make education and training.
Goals
. Agricultural activities, technically, consist of crop production, animal production and agricultural technology branches. Agricultural Economics teach that how three branches can take part in a farm for a rational work. Increasing yield in agricultural activities can be achived with working rationally and applying innovations in farms. But, accepting that all technical innovations and developments take place in agriculture is a wrong approach. Because uneconomical technics have no place in practising. Therefore; in the agricultural economics, land-use format, using the factors of production, organization, marketing, planning, land acquisition and valuation, rural development, rural sociology, agricultural policy and farmers' training are of great importance. Department of Agricultural Economics has been established to give education both at management and national/international level and to make search.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Agricultural Economics explain; Turkey’s and world’s agricultural socioeconomic status, development, possibilities and limitations. It has both theoritical and practical knowledge about planning, financing, designing of farm management, analysis of financial data, macro-level agricultural policy and extension, climate change, rural development and environmental and legal policies. Analytical solutions are developed to the problems in these areas. ?
