About Program
Zoological and Botanical Chairs performing FKB training in Higher Agricultural Institute, in 1948-49 education course, has been transferred to the Faculty of Sciences to give the triple undergraduate education and in the same year Botany, Zoology and Geology Institute was founded. Education of the triple undergraduate department, the training lasted until 1965 and changed as bilateral science degree in 1968. In 1983 Chair of Botany and Zoology Department integrated and Department of Biology was established. Today, the department has a total of 20 professors, 11 associate professors, one assistant professor, one lecturer, 23 research assistants, one is a biologist and two experts available, Biotechnology, Botany, Ecology and Environmental Biology, General Biology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology and Zoology Department basic and applied research are conducted.
Goals
To gain to the students to do independent research, to interpret events by examining the broader and deeper perspective and to gain the ability to determine the steps necessary to achieve a new synthesis. Students gain expertise in their area by preparing thesis and a scientific article
Summary of Program Outcomes
Students who graduate from the program Has theoretical and practical knowledge in PhD-level; uses this information; gains the ability to solve problems in the field; by adapting their work to current developments, shares them in writing, orally and visually. By publishing the information acquired on the advanced level has specific studies, contributes to the development of the biological sciences.
