Azerbaijan, Turkmen, Gagauz, Khalach,
Khorasan, Uzbek, Uighur, Salar, Yellow Uighur, Tatar, Bashkırt, Kazakh,
Kirgiz, Karachai-Malkar, Kumuk, Nogai, Karaim, Altai, Tıva, Khakas,
Sakha and Shor Turkish dialects have been analyzed with synchronic and
diachronic linguistics methods using socio-cultural approaches in the
Turkish Dialects and Literatures Department.
Goals
The essential aim of the department is to teach and study the modern Turkish area. The research and education interests of the department include languages and literature of the modern Turkish peoples and their socio - cultural structures in historical perspective. Regarding the modern Turkish area as an integrated whole, the department focuses on exploration, analysis and teaching of this area, using current methods in linguistics and related social sciences.
Summary of Program Outcomes
State the place of Turkish dialects in general Turkish language; define the specific sound, style, syntax, vocabulary and meaning properties which separates the Turkish dialects. Be aware of history of Turkish Dialect researches and works. Analyze the history of the development of Turkish dialects. Evaluate the relations of Turkish dialect with other languages.
