About Program
The Tumor Biology Program is a multidisciplinary program jointly conducted by the the Department of Medical Oncology, Pathology, Medical Biology, Medical Genetics, Pharmacology, Biostatistics and Biochemistry of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Basic Biotechnology of Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University. The program is coordinated by the Department of Medical Oncology and aims to teach in detail the carcinogenesis mechanisms, tumor biology, cancer biochemistry, basic immunology, tumor immunology, biostatistics, clinical cancer research methods and basic cancer research techniques and methods. The program mainly includes theoretical courses and practical applications. The doctoral students in the Tumor Biology program are encouraged to improve their doctorate education by organizing meetings in which they can discuss current topics with academic members and supporting their participation in national and international congresses as well as active duty in scientific research projects.
Goals
The aim of the program is to gain a sufficient knowledge level and acquire experimental skills in the fields of carcinogenesis mechanisms, tumor biology, cancer biology, basic immunology, tumor immunology, biostatistics, clinical cancer research methods and basic cancer research techniques and methods to the students who have completed Master's degree and are willing to become researchers in cancer in the future. It is aimed that students who graduated from this program can plan basic cancer research projects independently and can equip them with the knowledge and skills to be able to carry out the project, as they can work as researchers in academic studies and research projects on cancer.
