About Program
The Doctoral Programme of Turkish Language Education that is provided in the Sub-Department of Fine Arts Education, Department of Cultural Foundations of Education, Faculty of Educational Sciences includes the courses of literature and language education, and children’s literature. The Doctoral Programme of Turkish Language Education makes important contributions to the production of scientific knowledge required in the field at the stages of investigating arts education considering all of its components through a scientific process; determining problems in the field; and suggesting and implementing solutions.
Goals
The main purpose of the Doctoral Programme of Turkish Language Education is to make contribution to the academic development of the graduates in the field of arts education through providing them with a doctoral education. The other purposes of the programme can be listed as follows: To contribute to the solution of basic educational problems in the country through research, national/international scientific events and publications in the field of Turkish Language Education. To contribute to teacher education programmes in faculties of education through offering compulsory and elective courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, and within this scope to provide theoretical and practical courses in language and literature education; children’s and young adult literature education; the arts and aesthetics; drama; creative drama; theories of arts education and education through the arts with an effort to educate experts in these fields. To contribute to the education of academic personnel (within the scope of the Academic Personnel Development Programme and the Article 35) in the fields of Turkish Language Education as well as Fine Arts Education and Creative Drama in faculties of education in many universities.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Describe concepts and subjects related to language and literature education. Conduct research with an aim to improve the quality and efficiency of language and literature education, and to comply with ethical principles in the research process. Use high-order thinking skills in studies related to all components of language and literature education (curricula, textbooks, teacher education, teaching methods and techniques, teaching materials, etc.).
