About Program
The aim of this program is to meet the need for expert personnel trained in the field of GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS, within the scope of two-year associate degree education and in line with the main principles stated in Article 4 and Article 5 of the Higher Education Law No.2547. It is to train qualified personnel who can take part in expert positions in companies and especially within the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, know and apply the basic methods applied in this field, at the same time give the training required by the subject to the existing staff in the unit where they work, and have the ability to manage and manage the unit where they will work. The Geographical Information Systems department was established in 2016 within the body of Ankara University Vocational School of Ayaş. In the 2021-2022 academic year, it is planned to start education at the Vocational School of Ayaş.
Goals
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is becoming more and more important in today's world. Therefore, increasing demand and the lack of intermediate elements that can work especially during the data production phase are significantly felt. The GIS program primarily aims to address this deficiency and meet the need for data management and spatial data. The aim of the Geographic Information Systems Associate Program is to familiarize public and private organizations with the basic principles, strategies and techniques of geographic information systems and positional data management that are active in the decision-making process; to train staff equipped with analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Students gain the ability to solve problems related to geographical issues such as photogrammetry and remote sensing technologies, natural disaster, disaster management, waters, landforms, ecology, urbanization, development, development, tourism.
