Goals The lecture teaches students on the application of economics methods to health field in order to improve the health status and the health system overall.
Course Content The definition of health economics, basic concepts, historical development, health services market, health expenditure, health financing, economic evaluation methods
Learning Outcomes 1) Students explain the definition and content of health economics.
2) Students discusses the reasons for the development of health economics as a separate discipline.
3) Students list the social determinants of health.
4) Students discusses the factors affecting the supply and demand of health care services and the supply and demand of health care services.
5) Students interpret the functioning of the market and market failure in healthcare services.
6) Students analyzes the determinants of health expenditures and the general view of health expenditures with international comparisons.
7) Students tell the definition, functions and policies of health financing.
8) Students analyzes the general health insurance system implemented in Turkey with of all sizes.
9) Students discuss the relationship between the economic growth, development and health sector.
10) Compares the economic evaluation methods in the health sector.
