Goals This course aims to offer an appreciation of the British novel after the second half of the twentieth century within the scope of the selected novels and short stories that display various literary tendencies and narrative strategies.
Course Content Students explore selected works of fiction in the light of various literary movements and analyse the formal and textual changes in the novel after the 1950s within a literary, cultural and sociopolitical context.
Learning Outcomes 1) Examine the social, political and economic developments that influenced the selected writers in the second half of the twentieth century.
2) Explain and discuss the terms and concepts related to the period.
3) Analyse various selected novels and short stories from the second half of the twentieth century within the context of their form, style and themes.
4) Improve analytical and critical skills, and develop a capacity for independent insight.
