Goals The aim of the course is to enable the students to acquire knowledge of the basic texts of literary theory and particular theories, and to enable them to acquire the skill to use that knowledge by applying the theories on literary texts.
Course Content Detailed information about the history of literary theories and the main texts is given. Particular literary theories are analysed in detail and they are applied on literary texts.
Learning Outcomes 1) Students acquire detailed knowledge of classical and contemporary literary theories and improve their skills to apply these theories on their analysis of literary works.
2) Their skills to provide detailed analyses from different perspectives for the literary works they read within a theoretical framework are improved.
3) Their skills to express their evaluation of literary works within a theoretical frame both in written and oral English are improved.
4) By using English a the medium of their academic studies both in classwork and in their research outside of class, the students find the opportunity to improve their language skills and their command of English.
