Goals It is aimed to teach main terms of microbiology, make students able to take microbiological samples due to the regulations and analyzing methods, make preparations for microbiological analysis, prepare cultures and make microbiological study.
Course Content Introduction of tools and equipments used in the microbiology laboratory, procaryotic and eucaryotic cells' structure and function, the comparison between them, taxonomy and naming, aseptic technique, microbial growth, culture media, types of media and preparation of media, usage of microscope, contamination resources of microorganisms, the influence of environmental factors on growth of microorganisms, isolation, identification, morphological speciality of microorganisms.
Learning Outcomes 1) Knows the cell structure of microorganism, graduation and common features.
2) Explains the contamination sources of microorganisms.
3) Knows the growing conditions of microorganisms and factors that effect microbiological improvement on food.
4) Explains the preparations that will be done in the microbiology laboratory before and after the analysis.
5) Examines the microorganisms on food by microscope and makes microscopic and cultural counting. .
6) Makes the isolation and definition of microorganisms.
7) Knows the techniques to multiply and eradicate microorganisms.
