Goals Explaining the concepts related to nursey and propagation, explaining the propagation methods used in growing vine nursey,Ability to determine the appropriate propagation method according to current conditions,producing vine nursey, To carry out the necessary cultural practices for the development of saplings, Following the maintenance of the nursey and detecting problems, Producing grapevine saplings in accordance with standards, Following innovations regarding vine nursey production, Fulfilling responsibilities in teamwork regarding the production of vine nursey, Being aware of the methods of evaluating the existing opportunities and using them effectively, Gaining the ability to take precautions to protect the environment during cultivation, Providing the opportunity to experience ways of evaluating the grown product
Course Content Concepts related to Vine Nursey Production, areas of use, current situation of vine nursey production in Turkey,Establishment of the vine nursey business (location selection) Arrangement of the vine nursery (fencing, soil preparation, etc.), Planning of plant production in the vine nursery (rootstock plots, scion plots, etc.), Vine Nursey production (Bare-rooted, Tube nursey etc.), Cultural practice performed on vine nursey (irrigation, fertilization, etc.), Vine Nursey standization, Preparation of Vine Nursey for sale, marketing etc., Evaluation of academic studies on sapling production, preparation of a sample nursery project
Learning Outcomes 1) Explains the concepts related to nursery and nursery cultivation.
2) Explains vegetative propagation methods in vines.
3) Explains and applies plant grafting techniques.
4) Cuttings are taken from vine plants, keeps it in storage and It carries out the formation of the new plant.
5) To have knowledge about new reproduction techniques
6) It produces according to sapling standards.
7) It recommends vine saplings to the producer according to the region and production purpose.
8) It offers saplings for sale in accordance with marketing principles.
9) It identifies the problems encountered during sapling production and subsequent maintenance operations and fulfills its responsibilities regarding the solution.
10) Researches new sapling production techniques and applies them in the field.
