Goals The scope of this course is to provide learning about the biomechanical principles of designing different orthoses, the selection of appropriate orthoses, and the mechanisms of action of orthoses.
Course Content The biomechanical principles of designing different orthoses will be examined. Information will be given on issues such as evaluation, mechanisms of action, maintenance and control of orthoses for the selection of the appropriate orthosis for pathology.
Learning Outcomes 1) Can determine the type of orthosis that the patient should use in different problems and knows the effects of the orthosis.
2) Knows foot biomechanics and orthotic and rehabilitative treatment approaches in some foot pathologies.
3) Knows lower extremity orthoses and spastic hand bracing in CP.
4) Knows the bracing for the brachial plexus lesions and peripheral nerve lesions.
5) Knows bracing and rehabilitation protocols after tendon repairs.
6) Knows bracing in scoliosis.
7) Knows degenerative problems of hand and baracing and Rheumatoid hand and bracing.
8) Knows bracing in knee and hip pathologies.
